RVScrapbook.com hosts online fundraiser for CARE to help elderly RVers…
"What happens to full-time RVers when they cannot take care of their own or their spouse's needs following an illness, injury, surgery, or the progression of a long-term health situation?" Escapees CARE answers this question for aging RVers, and makes it possible for them to continue enjoying the RV lifestyle, residing in the familiar comfort of their own RVs, while receiving professional care at the Livingston, Texas, Escapees CARE facility. The non-profit (501c3) corporation, founded by Escapees RV Club, is funded by donations, and maintained by volunteers.
Happy Camper Club’s RVScrapbook.com web site, a free, social network for the RV community, is working to raise awareness of the Escapees CARE cause, and members of the site have gotten off to an enthusiastic start with a community fundraiser at the site. All RVers are welcome to participate, and the only requirement is a few minutes of your time, and your favorite RV recipes. RVScrapbook.com has posted a “Camping Recipes” topic in its forum, and all RVers are invited to share favorite outdoor recipes, or recipes that are simple and easy to prepare in an RV kitchen.
The recipes will be collected until mid-December, at which time RVScrapbook will compile an electronic recipe book, available for instant download. The recipe collection will be sold through any RV company web site that wishes to participate. All funds will be donated to Escapees CARE in early January, delivered “in person” by one of Happy Camper Club’s logo mascots. Anne Pierson, president of Happy Camper is enthused about participation already. “We just posted a notice about this effort on Sunday, and two days later, we already have over 30 recipes posted… It’s going to be a fantastic collection, and a great value, for a very worthy cause. We have been providing ebooks to visitors at our site for over a year, and RVers love the format. It gives great information by instant download, and is stored right on your computer. RVers appreciate having one less thing to pack into the RV.”
All campers and RVers who wish to help with this project are invited to register at RVScrapbook as members at no charge whatsoever. Recipes will be accepted through December 15, and credit for recipes will be given to each contributing member of the site in the final “e-book.” The book will be available for sale at RVScrapbook.com in the “camp store” by January 1, 2007. A list of other participating re-sellers of the ebook will also be listed at RVScrapbook.com at that time.
